Ground Beams

Bell & Webster has an enviable reputation as producers of ground and edge beams.

A range of adjustable moulds enables the fast and economical supply of bespoke units, with fixings suitable for most applications.

Designed to BS 8110, units are available as standard in ordinary O.P.C. with S.R.C. as an option.

Beams are manufactured in steel moulds.

All constituent materials used in the manufacture conform to the relevant British Standard.

Unless otherwise specified the top surface will have a trowelled finish and the remaining faces will be as struck from the mould.

The concrete is compacted using internal vibration. Cover to the reinforcement is maintained by use of plastic bar spacers.

To improve workability and give the high strength necessary for early demoulding, a chloride free admixture is incorporated into the designed concrete mix.

Ease of delivery is ensured by the use of ring clutches. These are quick release lifting loops which attach to recessed eyes in the top surface of each beam and allow the connection to the clients crane for off-loading. They may be purchased for use when placing the beams in their final position.

Projects include a number of Lidl stores in southern England, supply of 1500 beams to Taylor Woodrow for a Tesco development at Bury, Lancashire, and many other projects nationwide.
